My top five books of February 2014

These books are not in preference order!

1) The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
I may have accidentally stumbled into something I didn't mean to when I picked up this book from the library. It looked a little bit disturbing and it had a love story but nothing prepared me for the gooey chocolate on the inside of the dry cupcake which is what showed. It's about a girl called Mara who is in an accident and she can't remember anything about it. Her best friend, her boyfriend and her best friends friend (who she doesn't like much) die because an old building collapsed around them and Mara was the only one who was alive afterwards. She then moves school because she needs to start a fresh away from where she used to live.  She befriends a boy called Jamie who tells her about the mysterious Noah Shaw.  She then typically falls in love with him and it goes on from there! It turns out that there is a series and the third book comes out in November (your kidding me!!!) but that's ok. I would give this book a 8/10 because it really is just amazing. It has the power to make you go upstairs and wonder what you'll see in the mirror, it's a phsycological fear

2) Noughts and crosses by Malorie Blackman
It is very likely that you have read this or heard of it because last year it was massive! I tried it last year, but couldn't get into it do this year I was like "yeh, I'll read it!" I have to admit, it made me cry - I won't tell you the ending because that is horrid.  It's set in a different universe/time/world where crosses are "better" than noughts, like in this world/universe/time white people used to rule over black people and in this book it swaps it round.  It's a typical love story - sort of like Romeo and juliett - they want to be together but they can't because sephy is a cross and Callum is a nought. They have known each other all their lives and the grow to fall in love.  It tells you about their relationship through the book and the war against noughts and crosses.  It's a great book but I personally can't latch onto it that well so I'm going to give it a 7/10

3) Abandon Meg Cabott
This book is the last in the Abandon series by Meg Cabot. I ADORE this series and I saw this in the library so I was like "the last one! I have to read the last one because it really is such a haunting, beautiful series that has gripped my heart.  It's about a girl called pierce who dies and goes to the underworld.  She falls in love with the keeper of the underworld (John) and then she comes back to life.   In this book, she's already with john and this is where they try to defeat the 'furies' and how work out a way to be together.  I would tell you more but because it's the last book, it's like telling you the ending and I don't want to do that, so the only thing I can reccomend is read the books! I would give this series a 9/10 because I have loved them that much!

4) Watership Down
We have something called a reading list at school, there is one for every year, and we have to read ten of these and 20 books of our choice (in year 8) to get a reading star award badge (I lost mine for last year! Oops!) and this book was on the reading list.  I saw the film a few years ago and a adored it so when I saw that this book was on the list I was very excited.  It's a very thick book and has very small writing so it's quite a hard read but I thoroughly enjoyed it!  It is quite hard to get your head round because you would think that a book about rabbits would be more of a child's read and the length would be more of an adults read and I think it suits everyone! Young children wouldn't be able to read it themselves as there is some difficult words and things that they may not be able to read and understand.  It's about a group of rabbits who run away from their warren because fiver, who has a sixth sense as such, says that something terrible is going to happen to their warren and that they have to run away.  The book is about the rabbits journey to get to the hills (Watership down) and what happens when they get there. I would rate this book 8/10 because it is unique, individual and I've never read anything like it.

5) Inifinate sky
This book was also on our school book list and I was drawn in instantly by the blurb. It's about a girl who has travellers parked on her front lawn and she falls in love with the traveller boy (noticed a them with me and love?) and she can't be with him because her dad hates the travellers and wants them gone.  It's a typical love story and I adore it. Trick (the traveller boy) is really sweet and I just fell on love with him (please say I'm not the only one who does this?!?!) like I did the book. I would give it an 8/19 because it's enchanting and wonderful and any girl will love it!

What do you think? What are your favoutite books at the moment?

Please take a moment or so to look at the rest of my blog and follow because that would mean so much! If you comment and leave your blog I WILL take a look and if I like it I will follow!

Liebster award!

I was nominated for the famous liebster award by http://diamondsanddaydreamsxo.blogspot.co.uk/ for those of you who don't know, the liebster award is where you get nominated by another blogger if they think your blog is good, but it's only for people who have 200 followers and less.  It was created to open people's eyes to new blogs and bring the smaller blogs out into the open!

Questions:
1. Who is your style icon?
Taylor swift! Taylor is a huge inspiration to me and her clothes are beautiful! Her hair is always shiny and her curls (when she doesn't straighten them) are always so defined and clear. She is just simply beautiful.
2. What is one make-up product you couldn't live without?
I think most girls would agree with me that you just can't live without mascara, especially if you have blond eyelashes like me! I think that it just brings a persons face to
Iife and makes them look more awake.
3. If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?
Hard one. I think my favourite place to live is where I am now. In a small village in a little cottage with roses round the front door and acres and acres of land. But maybe that's a bit boring? If I didn't live there I would live by the sea somewhere like Australia!
4. What is your favourite skincare product?
Clean and clear morning energy skin brightening daily facial scrub - being a teenager I get a lot of spots and so I use this to reduce them and give me a brighter face in the mornings.
5. Favourite band/singer?
Again, Taylor Swift. As I said she is a huge inspiration and her songs just describe my whole life and I can relate to them in so many ways! I've seen her live once and I was four rows from the stage, she was literally right there - I could practically touch her! It was the most amazing experience I have ever had in my whole life! My favourite band has got to be scouting for girls, they are a group that I have listened to my whole life and their songs bring back thousands of memories, I have seen them live twice!
6. Favourite quote?
We should love, not fall in love because everything that falls gets broken - Taylor Swift
7. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
If I could survive off it I would have the cadburys marvelous creations - the one with the jelly beans - because it has chocolate, jelly beans and popping candy in which are my favourite foods ever!
8. Any fashion distasters?
I went to a non-school uniform day wearing purple tights and trunslucent neon, rainbow stripy socks and it didn't go down well.
9. Favourite film?
Pretty woman - best film I have ever seen in my whole life! Closely followed by 'the devil wears Prada'

7 deadly sins tag!

1. GREED - What is your most inexpensive beauty product?

This nail polish is about the size of my thumb (it's tiny) and it's soooo cute! I got it free with a magazine and it's from Barry M so I was like "bargain!!" I absoloutely love the almost burgundy shade and I wear it all the time!

What is your most expensive?

Taylor by Taylor swift is probably my most expensive beauty product - it's £25 which thinking about it, it isn't that expensive. I love the scent of this perfume - it's quite woody and spicy but sweet at the same time (I am awful at defining smells)

2.
WRATH - What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?
I adore the apocolips lip lacquer by Rimmel but it has an awful smell which stops me from using it.  It's very pigmented and the colour lasts a very long time (take a look at my review of this product)

3. GLUTTONY - What are your most delicious beauty products?

This lip balm has THE MOST gorgeous smell EVER! It smells like fresh raspberries or raspberry yoghurt and is so nice on your lips, it is beautiful! It's by Nivea and is called Rasperry Rose.

4. SLOTH - What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

This is a beautiful pastel eyeshadow palette by Claire's that I got 2-3 years ago.  Truth is, I should probably chuck it because it's so old but I adore the colours! I never really use it much anymore though because it's I the bottom draw of my makeup box and I don't go down there much, but this really is extreme laziness because the bottom of my draws is hardly out of reach the draws all together come to about 30cm, so you see my point! I also spilt blue nail varnish on it a year after I bought it (2 years ago) and I still can't be bothered to take it off with nail polish remover!!!

5. PRIDE - What beauty product gives you more confidence?

I think that most girls will agree that mascara has the power to make you feel like you are the most confident, beautiful person in the world! It makes your face look more alive, especially if you have blond eyelashes like me, and more awake, like your eyes are listening. It is just amazing. Above is the they're real mascara by benefit. I love this mascara, the one in the picture is my mum's and I have a miniature one somewhere but I can't find it (aaahhh!)

6.
LUST - What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Nothing. I have no interest in boys whatsoever.
7. ENVY - What item would you most like to receive as a gift?

At the top of my birthday list is the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay. I went to the Urban Decay counter the other day in house of Fraser and I was practically drooling over it (not literally, lol!) it is absoloutely gorgeous and if I chose the right shades I could wear it to school as well. My favourite shades are buzz, dust and trick! What are yours? X

No makeup!

Hey guys

I have decided to give up makeup for lent! That's next Wednesday till Easter Friday which is a VERY long time.  Obviously I am allowed to wear it for tutorials etc or parties but I am only going to wear clear lip balm and a little bit of mascara on normal days which is hardly any.  It's taking me a lot of courage to do this so your support would mean so much!

How to: Foundation, concealer, blusher, bronzer

Hey guys!

So today I'm going to do a detailed tutorial (as such) on how I do my base I.e. Foundation, concealer, blusher and bronzer.

A) Foundation
Step 1) Take your foundation/BB cream/tinted moisturizer and squeeze about the size of two peas onto the back of your hand.

Step 2) dip your finger into it and then dab it on your face in the main areas: chin, both cheeks, forehead, under eyes. You will still have foundation on your hand so dip in again and just fill in the spaces until it's all gone.  You will look like you have very large, cream coloured spots all over your face.

Step 3) take the brush you use for foundation (I reccomend I flat ended brush) and brush all over your face in circular motions.  This just blends it all together so that the spots aren't there anymore.

Step 4) then take your fingers and blend together even more. Go around your nose, underneath your nose, around the hair line, jawline and your neck because you will look like an idiot if you don't. Brown face, white neck? Not good.

B) Concealer

Step 5) now get your concealer.  I reccomend a liquid concealer e.g. Wake me up by Rimmel or the lasting perfection concealer by collection.

Under eyes

Step 6) draw an upside down triangle underneath each eye using the concealer. Go from each corner downwards. Make sure it covers the whole under eye area.

Step 7) draw a horizontal line through the middle of each triangle

Step 8) get your index finger and pat the triangle, try and pat it inwards if that makes sense.

Step 9) keep patting until it's all blended in

Spots etc

Step 10) put a very small dot on top of any spots or areas that you would like to cover up.  Get your index finger again and pat lightly on each of these dots.  Don't rub because you will just smudge it and not achieve anything but a mess on your face

C) Blusher

Step 11) get your blusher (I reccomend sleek for great blusher - £4.49) and the brush that you use for blusher.  Dab it, not drag it as you don't want it to look really heavy and fake, and smile. The applease of your cheeks will now show really obviously. Brush in circular motions on the apples until you are happy with the colour, keep layering.

Step 12) keep smiling and brush up the cheekbones so that it looks like you have a nice and healthy glow.

D) Bronzer

Step 13) the final steps are the steps of the bronzer.  Get your bronzer (I reccomend bourjois) and the brush you use for bronzer (i feel like I am saying that a lot, lolz) and get a small amount on your brush.  Pout. You will see a line going down from above the top of your ear to the corner of your lip, get your brush and brush up down this line using circular motions, go to about half way.  This just adds definition to your face

Step 14) you can also go under your eyes if you want to depending on the bronzer that your have.

So there you have it! A guide to the base! If you would like more like this, comment below and give me ideas! Your opinions mean everything to me!!!

What I'm wearing today + about Lookbook

Jumper - Divided at H&M (Henz and Mauritz in America)
Leggings - Generation at New Look (£7.99)
Grey frilly socks - Topshop

Above is a picture of what i am wearing today!  It's a very simple outfit - Leggins, a jumper and frilly socks but effective all the same.  Now, i should image that you are wondering why i am posting this. Well, i have been thinking about doing one of these posts per week to let you know what i'm wearing and to give fashion inspiration to you.  What do you think? Do you think i should?

The reason i can only do it once a week is because i have school on weekdays and a picture of my uniform everyday really isn't that interesting and on Sunday's i normally just wear PJs.

Lookbook:

Lookbook is a fashion site which i absolutely adore!  It has loooaaaads of different rules which help keep the site spam free and easy for everybody to use i.e. u can only post a new look every 6 hours to keep the lookbook timeline free of just you,  you can only post pictures of yourself, you can only post a look from head to knees of shoulders to feet, you can do collage posts but only up to 3 photos. But it is an amazing site, and because it's not cramped with people, you get a lot more 'hypes' and comments and it's easier to interact with people. i have 9 fans and the moment and something like 88 karma. It's such a fantastic fashion site, i really recommend it - go join and fan me!
