Naked 3 by Urban Decay - review

This makeup palette is the most reviewed, most used, most wanted, most loved palette over the past few years and this Christmas and after an entire year of begging, I finally found the Naked 3 palette by Urban decay in my Christmas stocking at the end of my bed. It did not disappoint.  I love this palette, I use it all the time as it can be glamorous, snazzy or used for everyday.

 

It costs £37, which in my opinion is too overpriced for an eye shadow palette. 

 

Furthermore, all the colours in the 'Naked 3' are brand new colours, which Urban Decay have not used before. All the colours are described as 'Rose-hued neutrals'.

 

It includes a double ended brush - a small, thin and flat brush for application and a slightly bigger, fluffy brush which can be used to blend or apply.

 

Also included: four primer samples which have different uses and/or colour tones.

 

The packaging is a coppery gold colour, it has ripples on the top of the oblong case. In the middle it has NAKED 3 URBAN DECAY written on it in Gold.  There is a catch just below the letter 'Y'.

 

When you open the case you see 12 different natural colours, starting with a sheer cream and a pale shimmery pink before moving onto a slightly darker pink, which has a coral tint. Then a sheer brown that has strong pale pink tint. This serves well as a base colour.  Next to this we have a shimmery darker pink, which is very similar to 'limit' but just with a shimmer.  Then a shimmery gold, which you could place in the corners of your eyes or, if you're very brave, all over the lid for a night out.  Next we have a darker version of 'limit', it is a lot more brown and is mostly used to define the eye and blended into the crease.  Then we have one of my favourites: it is a shimmery brown with copper sparkles. I use this colour on the outer corners of my eye.  Next there is a shimmery brown, with touches of silver and very subtly green.  Then (another favourite) darkside. It is a dark, smoky grey it is slightly shimmery. I love to use this colour in a smoky eye. It's gorgeous. Finally, 'blackheart'. A shimmery black with red sparkles, I use this as a softer alternative to eyeliner, but it can be used in other ways.  The red sparkles don't show up very well on the eye and it comes out, instead, as a smoky black.

 

Some of the colours are very well pigmented, others aren't. Dust for example is not very pigmented but it's a very soft, shimmery colour. Their pigmentation depends on what it would be used for.

Ted Baker makeup box collection review

Hello everyone!

So, as I am sure you know, it was christmas a couple of weeks ago and I got some amazing makeup items that I would love to share with you! The item I am going to be reviewing today is a makeup box from ted baker:

 

I adore this box - it has everything you could possibly need in!  I use many of the items everyday.

I absoloutely love the packaging, the lid is a mint green colour with TED BAKER LONDON on it, very simple, very chic. The lid then flaps up, to do this you use the coral coloured piece of ribbon and shows this:

It has a picture of pretty town houses, which have been coloured pastel to fit the theme on the bottom of the lid and the inside of the flap is a plain pale pink colour which draws attention to the makeup.  This design is on many Ted Baker products currently.

This is a beautiful blusher than came with the set. It comes out as a subtle pink colour, it's very natural and not too harsh. It also has a slight shimmer to it. The packaging is a Rose-gold metal, however the picture shows it to be a much more yellow gold. It's a small compact which you could easily take in your handbag, with a simple pop open clasp. It also has TED BAKER written on the middle to give it that designer touch.  I use this every single day - it is very long lasting - I adore it.

        You could also use it as a bronzer as it has the colour, which you can see in the photo.

Blusher^^^^^

This brush is obviously for applying the blusher to your cheeks, however I don't tend to use it as it will make it look too full on my face. It's a soft texture and has a Rose-gold handle. I do use it, however, to apply powder to my face.

These two bottles are pretty highlighters, which you apply above the cheekbones. The bottles are exactly like nail polish bottles, so of course when I first tried them I accidentally used them on my nails 😳, which was very stupid of me and didn't go down well. The applicator is also the same as a nail polish applicator, a small black brush.  The gold highlighter will look lovely for a summer look; very tanned and sunny and the more silver coloured one is better in winter; it is cooler. The gold one will suit warmer tones and silver will suit cooler skin tones

These nail polishes are really sophisticated and very pretty to wear. The red looks very classy and the silver is very simple. The lids are Rose-gold to match the rest of the kit.

On the outside of the box it has the same pattern as on the bottom of the lid: pastel town houses and there is a drawer with a small coral ribbon like the one for the lid.

The inside is the same pale pink colour as under the lid. In here there is also different kinds of makeup products:

This is my least favourite item, mascara. When I tried it, it didn't seem like a high-end mascara, it didn't come anywhere close to the maybelline rocket mascara which I use. It's very thin and it took about four coats to be the same as one coat of the rocket mascara, which was very disappointing. However, the packaging is quite nice: simple, black and sophisticated.

This eyeliner is amazing, but not much better than drugstore. Never the less, I really love it. It's long lasting and a strong black. It's very easy to apply, it's like a very thin felt tip pen so you just draw on the eyeliner like you would on paper. I love it so much!  It doesn't last very long through the day. Around lunchtime I find myself having to reapply it because the colour has faded significantly.

This is a really pretty dark-berry lip crayon.  This I absoloutely adore - It applies very smoothly but is quite difficult to apply at the edge of your lips. It is quite long-lasting, it survives well through food, although you may need a touch-up. It's not too harsh and looks smooth.  I love to wear this product because it is quite a soft colour, even though it is quite dark.

This is a gorgeous bright red lipstick that looks very classic. It's long lasting and smooth.  However, again, I don't think it's much better than drugstore red lipsticks like Kate Moss in Rimmel. I do love tha packaging though, I love the cuboid, white design and the simple letters on the top of the lid. It's looks very chic on my dressing table!

Here are some Rose-gold eyelash curlers which work really well, even though I don't need them because my lashes are naturally curly.

Finally, I finish with two eye crayons in gold and grey. They have Rose gold ends and simple lids. They last quite long and both have a little bit of shimmer. They're good if you can't be bothered or don't have time to do complicated eye makeup and just want to sweep on one colour.

So, that's it! I absoloutely love the set and I seriously reccomend it it for a birthday, Christmas or whatever. It's great and totally worth the £40 that it is.

Going out for dinner + the Norfolk show

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I went to my Nan's and we went out for dinner - I just want to tell you how lovely she looked and how I did her makeup.  I will also tell you how I did mine 😘

Makeup:

Nanny-

1) First I did her foundation, I used Garnier bb cream in medium.

2) I then put concealer under her eyes and on her blemishes

3) I then got her blusher (sleek - ) and applied it on her cheeks

4) I then applied her bronzer just below

5) Next, I filled in her eyebrows with the body shops eyebrow kit

6) After that, I brushed her eyelashes (she has fakes from Angelite in kenninghall) and then applied her special mascara

7) I put a turquoise eyeshadow on her lower lid and on the outer half above. 

8) I then got a light blue and filled in the inner half to create a blended effect

9) I then put her special fake eyelash mascara on, only one coat.

10) I then put on her bourjois lipgloss, it's very light and really suits her!

My makeup: 

1) I don't put foundation on because it's bad for your skin and I don't need it anyway so I went straight to my eyes. I did the same kind of style as I did with my Nan's (steps 7 and 8) I put purple on first and then a different light blue

2) I then applied my mascara - I use maybelline's newest mascara (I do NOT reccomend it, it's rubbish!) I put on about five coats

3) Next I got my sleek - flamingo blusher and applied it lightly on my cheeks as it's quite strong

4) I then used a sparkly nude lipstick before filling in my brows lightly with the body shop eyebrow kit.

Nanny is wearing a white dress from the Norfolk show, a necklace made from the Dominican stone and earrings from a craft shop in Attleborough. She is also wearing black heels.

I am wearing white, frilly socks from Topshop, white pumps from primark and a red/orange superdry, strapless dress, which is around £50 and should still be in store. 

The Norfolk show 

Me and my family (mummy, nanny and my bff Carys) went to the Norfolk show last Thursday. It was loads of fun!

There was the actual Tardis!!! I am a really big whovian (but not of the old school doctors, I have seen every episode since the first Christopher eccleston) so this was huge for me!  I cannot stress how exited I was!

We went inside the Tardis and there was the thing! It had all the right buttons and everything!it had the big red one, the pulley thing and the the little flicks things! It was amazing!

How to: make your own under eye moisturising and cleansing pads

My moisturiser

Hey guys! Today I thought I would add a little something to my 'daily skincare routine'. I do this every night and it really does make a difference! I put homemade under-eye patches under my eyes (duh) and it brightens and reduces dark circles! 

1) Start by moisturising your whole face - this is very important as it keeps your skin smooth before you do the under eyes, you need your whole face to be soft.

2) Get a makeup remover pad (not wipe) and cut it into the shape of your under eye, if you can't be bothered to measure it guess and do it a traditional moon shape

3) get your cleanser and put a tiny amount on the pad and spread it evenly accross the pad, so it's sort of 'rubbed in'. You don't want a splodge on the wipe because when you out it under your eyes it may go in your eyes, which wouldn't be very beneficial.

4) Get your toner and drip a drop (lol!) onto the middle of the pad, it will spread.

5) Get your moisturiser and do the same as what you did with cleanser.

6) place each pad under the eye, get your finger and press down hard on the pad and smooth your finger accross the pad so it sticks, if you like you can use a tiny amount of selotape to keep it in place

Keep the pads on for 10-20 minutes for bright circles! I also do it the morning before school as it does improve them!  If you take your pad away after about seven minutes you will see a lot of grime on it, it's great for getting rid of dirt! If you got lots of pads, full pads, you could make a sort of face mask, but maybe that's not an every day thing...!

March Favourites 2014

Hello everyone! It's that time of month again - the beginning, so i though i would show you my favourites from March! April has come around so fast, i feel like the world has started to spin faster and time has sped up, but that would be impossible!  I have quite a few interesting products this month, including food, hair products and beauty products, so keep reading!

Herbal essences split end protection intensive care hair mask

I love this product, it works like a conditioner. You put it in your hair once or twice a week instead of your normal conditioner and it helps repair split ends and prevent them from happening if you haven't got them already.  You leave it in for ten minutes while you shave your legs or whatever and then you rinse it out. It smells delicious, as you would expect from herbal essences, like raspberries.

Batiste floral and flirty blush dry shampoo

I love this dry shampoo! I have never really used dry shampoo before this month, which is when my mum went to Tesco and bought me this.  It smells quite nice but i'm not thrilled by it. It does work a treat on my hair though, i spray it in when i haven't got enough time to wash my hair before school and it just refreshes my hair, but obviously wash your hair as well if you do use dry shampoo - it doesn't clean your hair, only refreshes it.  I also have a blonding dry shampoo which is a sort of yellow instead of white and it makes your hair look slightly blonder.

Maybelline colour sensational lipstick in 832 - kiss pearl

I love the colour of this lipstick! It's perfect for school as it's quite natural but it's also good for parties as it has a light sparkle to it.  It has a great texture and it's a great product considering its a drugstore lipstick.

Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara

I love this mascara but obviously it can never replace my old 'They're real' mascara from benefit. It is good though, it lasts a long time and with a few layers it looks quite dramatic. I use it for school and for parties, its a great mascara!

Accessorise black pencil eyeliner

It's not the eyeliner itself thats particularly good, well - it's quite good but thats not point, its the style that goes with it. I have recently started wearing this on my waterline recently and i have found that it actually makes a huge difference to the face.  I wear it to school as mine isn't particularly strict on uniform rules and i feel a lot more confident in it. I really recommend this style!

So…? Kiss me - perfume

I discovered this perfume last week when i was unpacking the last few boxes from the house move. It comes in a pack of four, along with: so…? Eternal, so…? Superstar and so…? Sinful.  I love this the most, it has a sweet yet spicy smell - it smells quite alluring in a way. I wore it to a party the other day and it is actually quite strong, i also love the packaging. It's small but effective!

Bomb cosmetics bath bomb

I absolutely love bath bombs, i especially love bomb cosmetics because it appears in a lot of places and lush because, well, how can you not love lush?  I have started having a lot more baths recently because i have had the time to do so.  Bath bombs just add to the bath, they can give it a gorgeous smell, a gorgeous colour or a gorgeous feel. They are just wonderful!

Doctor who series 2

I love series 2 of doctor who, i love doctor who full stop but this month this series just reached out to me. Of course, i have seen it at least 20 times before (before you laugh I'm not even exaggerating) but i loved it again once more.  It makes me cry, but i won't tell you why (spoilers!)

Oreos

I have also grown a sudden obsession with Oreos! I love the different layers, people off the chocolate biscuit and then biting away the cream inside and then another layer of chocolate biscuit!  I have a pack of two in my lunch box every day because they. are. amazing!

Garnier fresh essentials cleanser and toner with grape extract

I love this cleanser and toner, i love the smell.  They have a very subtle smell of grape and i love they grapes!  They have done a lot of good to my sin, i don't get as many spots as I used to and it feels fresh after I've put it on. *Check out my daily skincare routine*

Wednesday bath

Hello everyone! I don't think there is anything better than a bath, and what's better than a bath that smells like chocolate?  I don't think anything! I think having a bath is the most relaxing way to wash if it's done right.

Every good bath needs a bath bomb and this is amazing! It looks like you could eat, I really as going to eat this! But it's a bath bomb that smells like chocolate. It's got a lot of different layers, the bottom looks like the biscuit bit and it has lots of bits in the bottom which I presume it's for exfoliating. The next layer is the 'chocolate cheese' layer which is really smooth and sort of works like a massage bar. The top is just the icing on the cake really (lol), it looks pretty! There are two 'raspberries' on the top that melt and they smell gorgeous! My bath really did smell like a chocolate shop!

I used Paul Mitchell blonde shampoo. You only use this twice a week and it maintains your blond hair if you have has it died or whatever. I am beginning to use a bleach from John Frieda that you spray into hair when it's towel dry and you do this about twice a week and I'm also putting in this shampoo to try and stop it going ginger! It comes out a gorgeous purple colour and when you rub it into your hair it looks like any normal shampoo! It works a treat! It's quite expensive: around £10.

This is the conditioner that I used. Again, you only use this once or twice a week. It keeps your hair from split ends and makes it smooth like any normal conditioner would - see it like a face mask: cleans, exfoliates, moisturises, makes smooth. They work, they really do! I really reccomend them.

This is a brilliant exfoliating scrub. I use it on my legs after I have shaved them to make them as smooth as possible. I also wear it on my face to help get rid of spots and again to exfoliate.
